JOURNEY TO PUBLIC SERVICE

My passion for public service began at an early age, inspired by my single mom who worked as a state social worker. Witnessing the positive impact that advocacy combined with government service can have on a community, I embarked on a career as a campaigner for progressive policies. My advocacy efforts have spanned from local city councillors to Congress, tackling important issues such as vaccine accessibility and nuclear disarmament. However, I ultimately decided to focus my energy on addressing the everyday concerns that Michiganders face, including access to housing, healthcare, and quality public infrastructure--and importantly, transparency in local government. I am also deeply committed to ensuring the rights of every individual to live their true identity in a safe and welcoming community.

2024: KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP SUPERVISOR

I returned home to Michigan in early 2022, after deciding with Hannah that Kalamazoo Township is the ideal place to find community and grow a family.

I spent my first two years in Kalamazoo Township listening to fellow residents and community leaders. Folks from across the township, from Eastwood to Westwood, have shared brilliant ideas to grow Kalamazoo Township into an even better, more sustainable, and ever more inclusive place.

To bring those ideas to fruition, our local elected leaders must lead. A leader listens, and a leader creates opportunities for engagement. A leader is transparent. A leader does more than the bare minimum. It is time Kalamazoo Township had a leader in the supervisor's office that truly leads. I am running to bring that leadership.
